No! In fact excessive cardiovascular exercise may be counter productive if your goal is to lose fat and lean out. The best prescription for fat loss is to build muscle by strength training 2 – 3 days per week; 1 – 2 short (5 – 15 minutes) high intensity interval training workouts along with 2 – 3 longer (30+ minutes) low-level cardio workouts (walk, jog, bike, etc.). This regime won’t leave you exhausted but will allow your body time to rest and recover so it can adapt to the training.
